Stephen grew up on a suckler and sheep farm in Northern Ireland. He graduated from Glasgow University Vet School in 1999.  His first 4 years in mixed practice were in County Durham before joining the Aln veterinary group in 2003. He became a director of Alnorthumbria vets in 2010, then Senior clinical director in 2015.

Stephen is interested in cattle and sheep fertility especially advanced breeding, enjoys surgery, post mortems and health planning. Stephen is a member of the British Cattle Veterinary Association, a BCVA Accredited BVD Advisor and Johne’s Advisor. At home he has three teenagers, a few sheep, cattle, 2 ponies, 4 dogs, 2 cats and some poultry.  He enjoys running, cycling and walking with his wife Emma and travelling but mainly to Ireland.
